Drops of ivory simple crochet gilet

Hey, Crochet Buddies and fellow lockdown inmates I wanted to share my latest pattern with you - The drops of jupiter crochet gilet!

I hope you are all doing well, staying safe and keeping busy wherever in the World you are.

I have found the last few weeks particularly challenging in terms of finding my creative vibe. Home schooling, cabin fever and general anxiety over the current crisis numbed my mojo for a bit.

I cant complain though as its been really lovely to spend quality time with my Babies, Sunshine, gardening, BBQ's, movies, painting and lots of games made from recycled items.

Pinterest has some amazing ideas to make use of your recycle bin and keep the small ones entertained, I would definatly recommend taking a look!

This week however the weather has been pretty rotten. So, armed with Disney+ for the kids and my yarn stash I have had some cosy days to get my hook into.

The Alpine stitch

I am still in LOVE with the texture of the Alpine stitch from my Azalea Beanie pattern and I wanted to use it in something new.

Alpine beanie - crochet tutorial

The Drops of Ivory crochet pattern was born when I began making a sweater for myself and completely went off the beaten track. I'm so happy with the result and the Alpine stitch pulled the whole piece together.

I would say this pattern is a easy/medium level. Once you have mastered the Alpine stitch its super easy to follow and works up really quickly!

This beautifully defined gilet is a wardrobe staple must! Loose fitting and breathable and can be worn in all seasons.
Made in one piece with high ribbed neck added after.

Stitch tutorial with video

Of course I wouldn't just expect you to know the Alpine stitch so here's a photo tutorial and video to help you master this gorgeous technique!

You will work up the crochet gilet like a pro once you get the hang of this stitch!

Crochet gilet in size medium

•Yardage -
2000 yards size Medium,

I used Hayfield bonus aran in cream, It's lovely to work with and the colour is stunning with this design. It is also very affordable so is a great yarn for making in larger sizes or on a budget.

7mm crochet Hook ( I highly recommend the hooks by Knitpro as their soft grip handles are gentle on your hands when you spend a lot of time whipping up. They would also be a lot better to work with if you hve problems with grip or arthritis.)

2 Stitch markers - I am forever losing these so found them at a very reasonable price with 100 pieces!

5 to 11 buttons.
