Setting Sun free crochet scarf pattern

Hey, thanks for checking out Peanut and Plum. I am sharing anew free crochet pattern - The Setting Sun crochet scarf pattern with crochet along video tutorial. This pattern has plenty of flair and Bohemian style which I hope you love!

You can totally make this free pattern your own and use natural tones, bold yarn cakes or use up that box of yarn scraps you just cant part with.

Is this crochet scarf pattern for you?

This pattern is best suited for an intermediate project, you will need good knowledge of a range of crochet stitches. However, I have a created a full crochet along video tutorial that would help any beginner learn the stitches and complete the Scarf with visual, written and audio help.

This pattern and video has both US and UK written terminology

You can find the crochet along video tutorial here @Peanut and Plums YouTube Channel

The crochet scarf pattern is worked from the bottom point in a flat piece to its longest part (top edge).

For each row we will use a different stitch to create that definition and texture that along with those Sunset hues makes this scarf a staple accessory.

It is a one skein project with extra matching/contrast yarn for the edging.

I have used Sirdar Jewelspun in Colour – 843 Setting Sun 200g skein

sirdar jewelspun yarn
sirdar jewelspun aran
sirdar aran yarn
sirdar mother of pearl yarn

I have used a 5mm/H hook for the entire pattern.

I use this handy little kit for all of my projects. It has everything I need and the ergonomic handles are really comfortable to work with - not too bulky! I can take it anywhere and have a selection of hook sizes, markers and needles on hand. I have added these cute little scissors to the collection and they are still as sharp as the day I bought them over a year ago!

Any Aran colourway or yarn cake will work just as well, you will need a minimum of 500Metres (547Yards).

If you have a stash of bits of yarn you could use them up by doing alternate colours for each row. You would not need to even follow a colour blend, just grab an assorted colour for each row and go with it.

It is possible to repeat rows to make the scarf longer and wider if this is what you prefer, if your skein of yarn is longer than the yarn I have used, I would suggest repeating rows to use up the yarn.

Of course! The Setting Sun triangle crochet scarf pattern can be easily adjusted to any yarn or hook size.

A thinner yarn and smaller hook would mean you need to add more row repeats to reach the desired width and length.

Use a matching yarn weight for the main colour and edging as this will stop any distortion to the shape of the Scarf after all your hard work.

I would be cautious using thicker yarns as it would be difficult to make the stitches especially the puff stitch, without it being too bulky

Finished size 35” wide at top, 26” long to point
