The laid back, hippie style to this free spirit crochet Granny Square sweater pattern is right on style. Have you checked out the high streets lately? The granny square is in!
I have created this crochet pattern and video tutorial for you in UK and US Terminology and the pattern comes in sizes
Small, Medium, Large, XLarge
I’m still obsessed with how colourful and versatile this sweater is. You can mix up any colour way for a gorgeous geo pattern that flows perfectly.
I finally get to use up all of those odd balls and stashes of bits of yarn that I hoard for unknown reasons.
My go to yarn for cheap and cheerful patterns is Hobbycrafts women’s institute yarn, not only is this a great quality yarn, with no fraying and lovely stitch definition, with each skein sold a donation to the federation of women’s institutes is made.
My other favourite yarn is knit crafts DK. I like the cheap 50g skeins so I can get the right amount for my projects or mix and match the selection of colours they have.
For this project I used a mixture of both of my faves. The feeling of accomplishment I had using up some of my scraps and making something so gorgeous was sublime!
Of course!
A thinner yarn and smaller hook would mean you need to add more row repeats to reach
the desired width and length.
Aran and worsted yarn would work too. You can check your measurements as you go to
make sure it is not becoming too large due to larger hook/yarn size.
I would be cautious using thicker yarns as it would be difficult to make the cluster stitch,
without it being too bulky
Weaving in those pesky ends!
I have a little trick for this. You can weave your ends into your work as you go.
Want to see how? Here’s my follow along video tutorial to show you the ropes!
